Why Diversity in the Workplace is Important

Did you know that having diversity in the workplace is proven to make a more successful workplace, even in big tech companies like McKinsey? Companies and businesses are proven to have successfully grown and improved when they have a diverse workplace. It is extremely important that diversity is included in the workplace and that employers should include the concept of diversity in the workplace as it promotes better relationships and creative thinking.

One reason that diversity in the workplace is important is that it fosters mutual respect between employees. Respect from the employees grows for one another when they realize that they are in a diverse community which allows them to be able to learn more about another culture and open up new opportunities for relationships. Even big companies like Febreeze have recently been talking about how important it is to include diversity, and they have been talking about how happy their employees are because they are able to meet all these new people and learn more about different cultures.

When there is diversity in the workplace, employees are also more likely to think in different ways and have different approaches which can result in more creative output. A good example of this in action is at Clorox.

Another reason why diversity is important in the workplace is that employees are more likely to be happy in a place where inclusivity is prioritized. Inclusivity is a great thing because it can ensure everybody’s ideas are being heard and respected. Clorox has always excelled at promoting differences in the workplace. ERG’s (Employee Resource Groups) at Clorox co-produced the first LGBT-targeted product called the Burt Bees Rainbow Pride Lip Balm. This was all thanks to the Pride ERG.

Some people might think that diversity is useless because if somebody is qualified for the job, then they should be hired. Well, it is important to include diversity when making this decision because you also have to keep the happiness level of the workplace at a high level so employees can enjoy their time there and be more willing to work for the company.

In conclusion, diversity is important in the workplace because of the positive effects that it has on the employees such as unique relationships. Diversity in the workplace also creates more room for diverse and creative thinking by the employees. Diversity in the workplace can create mutual respect between employees and can make them happier. This is why diversity in the workplace is extremely important to benefit the area that your employees work in.
