Twenty One Pilots (TØP) is a band that changed the world with their music. In their lyrics they make music about common troubles to make people feel like they belong somewhere. They also use uncommon styles of music and instruments to bring in a wider audience.

Tyler Joseph is the singer for the popular Grammy award-winning “schizoid pop” band. Schizoid pop is their made up genre that they feel their band is in. The band is comprised of two people, Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun. TØP got its name from All My Sons, a play by Arthur Miller. The play is about a man whose choice to send out faulty airplane parts for the good of his business and family caused the death of twenty one pilots during WWII.

TØP engage their fans by writing music about common troubles like anxiety and depression, this makes people with similar issues feel like they’re not alone and that they aren’t the only ones feeling that way.

They make music that is different from most popular music today. They use styles and instruments that you don’t see in music very often anymore like reggae and keytar. They also make some music that just doesn't sound normal even though they use common instruments such as guitar, bass, drums, piano, and ukulele.

“Ride” was on the radio for a few months and it was very popular. In this song they talk about a man who is very depressed and contemplating life. Tyler talks about how he is falling into his bad thoughts and how he thinks too much and needs help. Another song that was on the radio was “Heathens.” It was also very popular. And it talks about how if you are religious and someone else isn’t, you shouldn’t judge until you get to know them. It was a song they made for the movie Suicide Squad.

The band’s drummer, Josh Dun, is an amazing musician. Their songs are filled with fast paced beats and fills that don’t seem humanly possible. This dynamic of the music adds a bigger range of things that are going on in the song and makes everything sound much more grand. Also, Tyler Joseph has some serious rapping skills that complement the high- skill drumming. Almost every song has a 20-40 second rap at some point and they all blow people away. For example in the song “Lane Boy.” This is just another one of the countless reasons why the Twenty One Pilots are one of, if not the best bands that exists.

Although Twenty One Pilots have only released a few hits, they have changed the world by finding a creative form of music that actually sounds good, brings lots of people together, and has lots of dynamics. Once you listen to just a few of their songs, they’ll have you hooked.
